Search my heart, oh God.

Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
It’s really not a matter of IF God knows our hearts or not… He knows them, alright. God knows every thought we have ever had and will ever have. (Yikes. Sometimes I wonder how he can love us so much when we are so prone to being filled to the brim with sin.)
What’s really at hand here in psalm 139 is whether we are willing to let our hearts change BECAUSE God searches our heart.
Here are some questions that come to mind….
Is my heart for God in my desires, decisions, and day to day actions?
Am I a good representation of someone who is claiming to be changed from knowing Jesus? (Yes, I know we are all sinners saved by GRACE and we do not get to Heaven with works or actions… But I need to remember non- believers look to us and judge the power of Jesus on how WE are changed.)
Is my thought life full of critical, negative, junk filled thoughts?
Pray tonight this simple psalm. Ask God to search your heart, to point out these thoughts and heart attitudes, and to help you lead a path to Him.
Let me know how I can pray for you if this resonates.
Have a blessed evening,
