I’m a perfect score of 0/3 for getting out of bed early to have my quiet time, but hey, who’s keeping score? I’m asking God to help me find time to meet with Him and He is meeting me. Thank you Lord for your grace, again! I had a rough night realizing I had been hit hard with what seems like a very bad cold, woke up tired and just all sorts of yuck. The day was even full of chaos and moments I wanted to fast forward to the evening. As always though, the Lord points out all my blessings, and I have to end on a grateful heart.
So, I saved my reading until tonight. I really miss when I don’t wake up early, however, I know it benefited me to get that extra 1 1/2 hours of sleep this morning. (When do you fit in yourBible reading time?)
I like to keep it simple and SOAP journal so I can have a record of what God reveals to me and it also helps me to focus on what I read. Today I soaped a verse from Genesis (I only SOAP *one* verse each day).
Genesis 6:6 (NKJV)
And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
God has already created the world (the fall of man has happened) and now He is seeing as Humans have wicked hearts. He is “grieved in His heart”. This is when God decides He will wipe out everything He created. He regrets making humans as they have wicked minds from the moment they’re born and they are full of evil.
All men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Thankfully, we have a promise from God (after the flood), that He will never destroy the earth again the way He did in the days of Noah. Now, we have new covenant, with Jesus. I can apply this thought of God’s grief by remembering how I grieve him when I sin. It is hard to imagine the grief of a creator who regrets making his creation.
Help me to understand how my sin grieves you. I pray that you guide me with your Holy Spirit to be aware of sin in my life and repent and change immediately. Thank you for your grace and your new covenant with us through Jesus. Thank you for your word and that it is alive and living.
In Jesus’ Name,
What are you reading today? What verse spoke to you?
