January 23rd, 2017 : Jesus is crucified.

“Man of Sorrows!” what a name

For the Son of God, who came

Ruined sinners to reclaim.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,

In my place condemned He stood;

Sealed my pardon with His blood.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Guilty, vile, and helpless we;

Spotless Lamb of God was He;

“Full atonement!” can it be?

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

Lifted up was He to die;

“It is finished!” was His cry;

Now in Heav’n exalted high.

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

When He comes, our glorious King,

All His ransomed home to bring,

Then anew His song we’ll sing:

Hallelujah! What a Savior!

This song played while reading tonight and it fit perfectly. Here the song Here.

Tonight I read exodus 6-8 and Luke 23.

I have a very heavy heart after reading Luke 23, so I’m not sharing much. It’s an emotional chapter as they set Jesus up for trial and crucifixtion. All the while, Jesus never once defends himself. My scripture tonight was hard to choose.

S: Scripture

Luke 23:23

But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed.

O: Observation

Jesus was presented before Pilate and Pilate was not finding a reason for death in Him (Luke 23:22) and wanted to chastise him and let him go. But the people insisted Jesus be killed. So (24) Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested. Jesus never defended himself.

A: I’m not sure how to apply this except to try to soak in this deep moment of Christ’s life and death.

P: Prayer

You count all the costs of the cross and still count it worth the salvation of your children. I can’t understand that. Help me to be fully aware of this as I go through my day. I am beyond precious to you. Thank you, Jesus.
