February 6th&7th, 2017: Forgiven, Justified & Backed Up by God

I had a great morning quiet time with God yesterday, but didn’t get my verse online. I didn’t miss the day but I missed sharing it! So I’m combining today and yesterday’s post.

Today was an exciting day, I slept in too so I did my reading mid morning and that was great. Loved the morning off and enjoyed time with my 5 year old son.

Yesterday and today I read:

Leviticus 1-3 & Acts 13

Leviticus 4-6 & Acts 14

Acts 13:38-39

Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

What’s happening here? Barabus and Paul are on their first mission trip for the gospel. They are leaching in Antioch in Pesidia. They preach with review of Jewish history, sketch of the life of Christ, emphasis on Christ’s resurrection and conclude with a call to hear the message, repent and believe. In verses 38-39 they’re confirming what we already know (and have been reading in Genesis- Leviticus)… we cannot be justified by the law of Moses.

Through Christ we have FORGIVENESS. We are justified and set free.

Acts 14:2

But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.

Ever wonder why non believers are so firm in spreading unbelief to others? Me too. We don’t have an explanation here but we do have a reaction from God. God empowered His disciples to win over the hearts of the gentiles. God SHOWS UP and God wins over the hearts of those who were swayed by the Jewish community at the time (who were against Christ, albeit very religious).

What do I see today and yesterday?

A) God is for us.

B) God will fight for us. God will die for us. He sent His son to free us.

C) God will show up in amazing ways when we are obedient.

So, what other proof are we waiting for? What are we afraid of? Do we not believe the word of God that is plainly given to us?

God,

Thank you for being there, all the time, in every circumstance. Give us courage to be obedient. Let us hear the Holy Spirit calling us to share Christ to those who may not accept it. Let us put you above all fear. Let us remember we are justified and set free through Christ. All who believe are justified. Let us live a life with no regrets if keeping Christ to ourselves.

Thank you Lord,

Amen
